Miners kicked off and Eagles completed the first set and were rewarded with a drop out , good ball work saw Colin Mitchinson score on the left wing, further first half tries came from Stu Pirrie and Chris Pleavin with two being converted by Nathan Bell, Miners in response crossed once for a converted try leaving Eagles with A ten point lead at half time.
The second half Eagles were caught on the back foot as defences scrambled but were unable to prevent two quick scores from the visitors, handing them the lead. Eagles settled their game and took the opportunity to level the scores with a penalty goal that bounced of the post and was re gathered by Eagles leading to a converted try for Bell. Miners continued to pressure and were rewarded by an unconverted try levelling the score.
Eagles continued to pressure Miners line but to no avail and when turn over ball was given to the visitors and the referee called for last set it looked like a draw was on the cards, until early in the tackle count Leigh spilt the ball, the home team rushed to form the scrum, the ball was pushed up field and with seconds on the clock Nathan Bell took position and under pressure from Miners defence dropped a goal which sailed perfectly between the uprights.
